Merry Christmas Eve, everyone! As I am getting ready to head out for Christmas Eve, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on Christmas Eve's past. Growing up, I have two different Christmas Eve memories - (as a child) at my me'me' & pe'pe's house and (as a young adult) at my parents house. Both instances, my family was together enjoying the holidays. I don't think I mentioned that I am half french Canadian and half Italian - and the reason this is important is because of the foods I remember on this (and all other) holidays.
Meat pie, anyone? It's so delish.... I will post the recipe within the next week or so. Also, salmon pie? The idea of that one takes some warming up to but... again - SO GOOD! I remember helping my mom & me'me' prepare it as a child. *sigh*.... I will post the recipe soon :) I know you're all so anxious.
I remember my sister and I waiting for Santa on Christmas eve - which I think we did, until we were a little too old to be doing that.... haha
Lastly, I am going to remind everyone two things: #1 - always remember the true spirit of Christmas:
"...and the angel said unto them, 'Fear not: for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.' And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men."
#2 - Don't ever be afraid to embrace your inner child.... Even if you're too old to be waiting for Santa. Oy, it's fun.
XO - EH
