"IT'S GOING TO BE A SNUGGLING NIGHT"

It has been 27 days that we have been in our house.  So fun.  Literally - it's been a blast.  Except for... ummmmm a GAS LEAK.  We have been smelling gas every time we use our dyer for about 5 days now.... finally today while working from home I smelled some MAJOR gas.  So I did what anyone would do in my situation - switched the laundry and went to my mother-in-laws.... haha (smart to leave not so smart to turn on the dryer).... anyways, on the way (per my usual routine) I called my mother and said "so I think I smell some major gas in my house" (her response scared me).  "get off the phone and call the gas company immediately.  This isn't something to take lightly" (and then within a minute she rushed me off the phone so I would call.

That was at 10:00AM

It is now 10:00PM and we STILL have no gas.

When I called the gas company they took my call VERY seriously and had someone out within 5 minutes. Which means I blew (no pun intended) like 4 red-lights to make it home in time for them.  The guy (Ed) was super nice and really made me feel better about the situation.  Although, he wouldn't let me in the house until it was "safe" OMG.... this is NUTS.  So I am listening to him and nodding, and made some kind of reference to the Jersey Shore "Homeowner PROBLEMS" LOLOL (he didn't get it).... So finally I made the VERY smart decision of calling my father-in-law to come and save the day (as usual)!! :) :)

Ed shut off the gas so Brian (father-in-law) could fix the problem (the FIRST problem)

THEN - Called the GC (Gas Company) to come back out to turn the gas on (not an emergency anymore so it takes them closer to an hour to come back....

BEHOLD - ANOTHER LEAK....

Good thing we have a warranty.... Reco for new homeowners - GET A WARRANTY - It's been worth it so far (hehehe 27 days)

The plumbers come out - fix the TWO leaks they find....

Called the GC.... OOPS they can't turn on the gas (they found another leak).... by now Kevin has been home for a few hours and is all caught up to speed and handling the situation.... so he is downstairs talking to the GC and the guy is explaining "no gas for you tonight" so Kevin says "It's going to be a cold one"

and the man replies

Fresh Strawberry Cake.....orrr Something Like it.

This morning I decided I was going to bake.  There was nothing getting in my way!  So I find this recipe for Fresh Strawberry Cake - and tell myself, "today, I can bake".  Even though, I rarely have ever been too successful at it.  I am more of a "cooker" kind of person - less a baker.  Regardless - I make the cake in two small round pans - and bake it.  Rather than read the directions completed (that you should leave your cake in the pan for 10 minutes for it to sit) - I immediately dump the cake onto the cooling rack.  Honestly, it was SO embarrassing - I am so glad my husband wasn't there to bask in my humiliation (just kidding he would NEVER do that - he is AMAZING and probably would have just laughed and said "no biggie") - but to me (because I am dramatic) I would have completely been horrified.

OK, TO THE POINT haha - I decided to show some ingenuity and turn them into "cake balls" that looked more like meat balls - because it was pink and looked like ground beef LOL - gross....

I baked them for a few minutes because honestly, I think the cake initially broke for two reasons, 1 I didn't let it set and 2 because it wasn't cooked all the way (HEHE)....  Frosted them and called it a day....

The time has FINALLY come.  Hagen "Haven" actually exists!!  WOO HOO!! haha :) Yesterday with the help of our family, we officially moved into our house.  It is still slightly disheveled - but MAN it feels so good.  Honestly, being in the house just feels right.  I love it.  I am attached to it.  Although, I have to say.... last night when I got in bed, it was a little strange - I felt like I was a guest at someones house.  It was weird - but that might have been the bendryal?  LOL

I miss blogging....

OOO before I forget, I found a book that is literally HYSTERICAL - I was in the BAM bookstore by our house and stumbled upon this book.  I literally was laughing SO hard, I was CRYING - and Kevin heard me from the OTHER side of the store....

I am in an airport now, waiting for my airplane to board (heading to Portland, ME) for business, but more importantly to visit my family in NE.  The whole gang made a special trip out there to see me :) YESSS!!

Once I get back to the Haven - I will post our before/after pictures (my NE family is a little upset they are not posted yet) BUT anything worth waiting for is..... worth waiting for?  I don't know.
